Dave Stringer

Dave Stringer is profiled in publications worldwide as one of the most innovative artists of the new Kirtan movement. Kirtan is an ecstasy-inducing, call-and-response form of mantra chanting that is currently undergoing a worldwide renaissance. Stringer’s sound invokes the transcendent mysticism of traditional Indian instruments with the exuberant, groove-oriented sensibility of American gospel and the ringing harmonies of Appalachia. His work translates the venerable traditions of Kirtan and yoga into inspiring and thoroughly modern participatory theatre, open to a multiplicity of interpretations, and accessible to all. Dave and his band tour tirelessly, giving concerts, workshops and retreats throughout North and Central America, Europe, Asia and Australia.  www.davestringer.com

Scott and Shanti Medina

Scott and Shanti Medina are a dynamic husband-and-wife duo from Boulder, CO .  Their very popular sacred sound workshops, ecstatic community kirtans, and inspiring retreats offer a sweet and deep dive into the vibration where the soma, or body, and mantra are One.  They recently released their double-CD project SoMAntra®.  The CD, with over 150 minutes of music, is a collection of original chants along with embodied yoga therapy practices to self-regulate the nervous system and ignite the innate wisdom.  To find out more, please visit: www.ScottandShanti.com

Kalika Fortin

In 2005, Kalika Fortin moved from the conservative midwest into an ashram in Colorado where she was immersed in a new and beautiful world of meditation, service and devotional  chanting.  Captivated by the sweet, calming energy of the morning chants, as well as the lively evening  kirtans, it became clear that bhakti yoga was her path.

She enjoyed several years in Shoshoni Yoga Retreat’s resident band, Shiva’s Garden, before forming The Pushpams with Mira Gale and Kumara Etzel.  Her debut album Flowers for Kali (September 2014) honors traditions lost and found in a gentle offering of uplifting chants and intimate songs. www.kalikafortinmusic.com

The Pushpams

The Pushpams (sanskrit for flowers) are a fresh Boulder based band bloomin’ and groovin’
with shakti infused yoga and chant music. Formed in 2012 by Mira Gale, Kalika Fortin, and
Kumara Etzel, (all former members of Shiva’s Garden), their performances are an innovative
fusion of beautifully arranged sanskrit chants and folksy original songs. Their music speaks to
and from the heart and draws listeners in.

Though the band is new, the members are seasoned yogis and veteran musicians who bring
depth both spiritually and musically to their collaboration, which to them is nothing but a
flowering of and offering to Spirit. Each of them lived for many years at the Shoshoni Yoga
Retreat, immersed in the daily practices of seva (service), yoga, meditation, and chanting.
