Event Description
Science & Spirituality with Dr. Joan Borysenko

Join scientist, author and spiritual guide, Dr. Joan Borysenko, for “Embodied Spirituality: Ancient Wisdom Meets Modern Science”—an experiential presentation which delves into interpersonal neurobiology—a field that opens a new window into the nature of consciousness, emotional balance and physical health. Learn how our minds are embodied in every system of our bodies and in our relationships as well. Explore how we are hard-wired for love and spirituality, and how our experiences of compassion and mindfulness—or fear, anger, and constriction—are all accompanied by the release of informational molecules that affect gene expression while serving as the biological mediators of consciousness itself. Joan will offer insights and strategies to help us shape our emotions, thoughts and attitudes in ways that can lead us to a life of health, wholeness and bliss.

Dr. Joan Borysenko, a Harvard Medical School trained cell biologist, psychologist, spiritual educator and New York Times bestselling author, is a pioneer in stress management, resilience, and personalized nutrition, and renowned for her tender exploration of the human spirit—how we create meaning that heals and inspires. She is author of 16 books including Minding the Body, Mending the Mind and A Women’s Journey to God. Her most recent book The PlantPlus Diet Solution: Personalized for Life will be released Oct 1, 2014. Learn more at

We will also honor the legacy of scientific visionary, Dr. Candace Pert, whose groundbreaking theory of how the ‘bodymind’ functions as a single psychosomatic network shaped the new paradigm of holistic medicine.

The afternoon will also include a Meditation/Chanting Circle, Holistic Mini-Expo & Light Refreshments
