Event Description

“Compassion is the essence of Jesus’ teaching, and indeed of the teaching of all great spiritual figures from Mohammed to Isaiah, from Lao Tzu to Chief Seattle. Yet compassion has been sentimentalized and severed from its relationship to justice-making and celebration. Creation Spirituality links the struggle for justice with the yearning for mysticism.” -- Matthew Fox

Matthew Fox explores Creation Cosmology which integrates wisdom from global indigenous cultures plus Eastern and Western spirituality with the emerging scientific understanding of the universe, and the passion of creativity.

It heralds a new unfolding story shaped by master teachers such as  Meister Eckhart, Hildegaard de Bingen, Thomas Merton, Thich Nhat Hahn and Dr. D.J. Suzuki. If you are concerned about the future of the planet, want to support the causes you believe in, or believe in the sacredness of nature THEN join us for these two exclusive days with Matthew Fox. Join seekers from diverse faiths, change agents for social justice, and even academics to discover your inner mystic and prophetic voice.

Become a Beacon of Change.

Two exclusive days:  March 31-April 1, 2017

Lecture: The Mystics in Ourselves and Others: Eckhart, Hildegard, Merton and Fox
Friday, March 31, 2017 | 7:30-9:30 PM (Doors open at 7 PM)
Matthew Fox explores how we can move to hope by awakening to our divine origins.  From the new universe story from science to eco- and gender- justice, to the wisdom shared by Meister Eckhart, Hildegaard de Bingen and Thomas Merton, we can find our own inner mystic and prophetic voice. Creation cosmology overlaps with the writings of Zen Buddhist teacher, Thich Nhat Hahn and Dr. D.J. Suzuki who influenced Thomas Merton.  The awakening and balancing of the Divine Feminine and the Sacred Masculine can help unleash creativity and sustainability and cause us to become transformative agents of change and healing in the 21st century.

Workshop: Stations of the Cosmic Christ
Saturday, April 1, 2017 | 10:00 AM-1:00 PM (Doors open at 9:30 AM)
Albert Einstein wrote that the future of humanity depends on a “cosmic religion” grounded in conscience. Come experience this new contemplative practice created by spiritual theologian Matthew Fox and Bishop Mark Andrus. In this pilgrimage one meditates on the seven “I Ams” and the nine events in the life of Jesus that are cosmic-based including the Nativity, Baptism, Transfiguration, Pentecost, etc. The stations were created by artists M.C. Richards and Ullrrich Javier Lemus. The practice is laid out with pictures in the book Stations of the Cosmic Christ by Matthew Fox and Bishop Marc Andrus. Fox takes us into an ecological and cosmic understanding of the role that a Cosmic Christ theology can play in our time.

Presenter Matthew Fox is an internationally acclaimed theological and spiritual maverick who has spent the last 45 years developing and teaching the tradition of Creation Spirituality, which is rooted in ancient Judeo-Christian teaching, inclusive of today’s science and world spiritual traditions; welcoming of the arts and artists; wisdom centered, prophetic, and committed to eco-justice, social justice and gender justice. He has written more than 30 books which have sold over 1.5 million copies in 60 languages. He holds a doctorate, summa cum laude, in the History and Theology of Spirituality from the Institut Catholique de Paris.

Fox is a recipient of the Abbey Courage of Conscience Peace Award (other recipients being the Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa, Ernesto Cardenal and Rosa Parks); the Ghandi King Ikeda Award; the Tikkun National Ethics Award; and other awards.

He has been interviewed in print and broadcast media including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Rolling Stone, People Magazine, Yoga Journal, San Francisco Chronicle, Oakland Tribune, New Age Journal, Utne Reader, Spirituality and Health, Tikkun, Science of Mind, Chicago Tribune, Toronto Star, Washington Post, National Catholic Reporter, The Independent (London), The Guardian, YES! Organizer Center for Spiritual Living-Tacoma envisions the emergence of the Global Heart to balance and guide the further evolution of humanity. We see a world free of homelessness, violence, war, hunger, separation and disenfranchisement. We see a world in which there is generous & continuous sharing of heart and resources. We envision a world in which forgiveness, whether for errors, injustices, or debts, is the norm. We see a world in which borders are irrelevant. We see a world which has renewed its emphasis on beauty, nature and love through a resurgence of creativity, art, and aesthetics. We see a world in which fellowship prospers and connects through the guidance of spiritual wisdom and experience. We envision a world in which we live and grow as One Human Family.
