FRIDAY December 13, 7pm at Center for Spiritual Living:
The Courage in Poetry
Understanding the Relationship between Vitality and Vulnerability

Much is said in today's world about just being. But human beings have never had the luxury of choosing between an untouched and interior foundational self and the necessities and often overwhelming revelations of the outer world, where we have to work, pay bills and look after others, often before ourselves. We are conversational creatures who shape a real identity only at the edge between our exhaustion and our vitality, between the self and the world, between the here and the there, between leading others and then following them, between how we need to be and what we need to be, and especially between the ground beneath our feet and the far horizon to which we go.

With a compelling blend of poetry, humor, insight and the wisdom of poetic tradition, David Whyte will look at some of the bold, courageous steps necessary to bring our interior states out into the world to do, to achieve and above all to give.

Friday Event Location: Center for Spiritual Living 6318 Linden Ave N, Seattle

SATURDAY December 14, 9:30am at First Covenant Church:
Solace: The Art & Practice of Shaping a Beautiful Mind

The world exists independent of human thought, but it is seen through the lens of the mind. How much stress or unhappiness we undergo can depend on the qualities of perception that we cultivate; the way we treat and are treated by the world is partly determined by the state and depth of our critical and emotional intelligence.

Join David Whyte on a winter's morning to look closely at the role of the imagination as a faculty of perception  one that cultivates our ability to turn away from false abstracts, act courageously, and above all, have a life worth living at the center of our endeavors.

Saturday Event Location: First Covenant Church 400 E Pike St, Seattle
