About the Artists:
Kamini Natarajan is one of the leading Indian Classical and kirtan singers. Kamini comes from a family of musicians and started learning Indian classical music at the age of 6. She proceeded to graduate in vocal Hindustani music and currently lives in Simi Valley, CA where she teaches, performs traditional as well as world music. Her music is spiritual, mystical, and simply engaging. In it, she artistically incorporates the traditional Indian ragas and intricate rhythmic patterns known as “taala”, which lift listeners to a higher state of consciousness – a state of pure bliss, away from mundane appearances. Nick Young has been exploring consciousness and spirituality through music on the sitar for over three decades. He received his beloved sitar as a gift at 16, and it has since become a conduit for his creative energy, a companion on his journey into inner realms, and a vessel for his thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Blending Eastern traditional music with contemporary sensibilities, Nick creates a unique sound that is beautiful, mysterious, transporting, and enchanting. As a frequent performer at international yoga festivals and retreats, he has also been featured on movie scores and new age and kirtan albums. His popular podcast: “Sitar Meditation Music” is cherished by meditators and yoga practitioners worldwide.
Eddie Young has been a passionate musician and illustrator since the late 1960s. Over the decades, Eddie has mastered the Cello, Bass, and Flute, playing a diverse range of musical styles. About 23 years ago, his journey took a transformative turn as he delved deeply into the music and philosophy of the East. Since then, Eddie has devoted himself to playing the sacred music known as Kirtan, performing not only in Los Angeles but also across the United States and countries around the world including India, China, Bulgaria, Austria, and Germany.
Eddie’s talents have graced numerous movie soundtracks, including his featured Cello performance in the acclaimed documentary Awake: The Life of Yogananda. Eddie’s approach to music is profoundly spiritual; he believes in becoming a conduit for the music to flow through him. He expresses: “Music is my spiritual path, and I love to play. The goal is to let the Music happen. When I am truly playing music, it’s flowing through me, and I am a witness to it.” Eddie cherishes a life filled with music, art, and the love of his family and bandmates. His journey reflects a harmonious blend of artistic expression and spiritual fulfillment.
