Kirtan concert with Wynne Paris & Cheryll Chaffee

Kirtan musician Wynne Paris will be joined by Sarasota's own Cheryl Chaffee for an evening of Chanting, dance, story telling and meditation.

About the artists: Wynne Paris is a yoga musician and producer who's been deeply involved in Kirtan and sacred music for over 20 years. As a child, Wynne's Grandmother taught him about the great saint Paramahansa Yogananda, who was her guru. The seed of Bhakti in Wynne's heart ripened in 1995, when he was invited to play kirtan as a guest musician with Mata Amritanandamayi, or Amma. In 1997, Wynne played on the ground breaking CD 'Pilgrim Heart' by Krishna Das. Since then he has recorded and performed with many wonderful kirtan artists including GuruGanesha Singh, Donna Delory, David Newman, Wah!, Tina Malia, and Girish, Gurunam Singh and more. Wynne has played many premeire yoga venues, like Omega Institute, Bhakti Fest, Kripalu, etc, but he spends most of his time singing and chanting in grass roots venues like yoga studios, house concerts, ashrams and recording studios.

As a full time musician with over 30 years under his belt, Wynne is known for performing kirtan concerts that feature a high degree of musicality supported by the experience of having lead well over 2,000 kirtans. He plays Sarod (a relative of the sitar), guitar, harmonium and percussion. Wynne is fluent in rock, folk, jazz, world-beat and raga based music.

With a past incarnation as a professional musician, Wynne has had fun introducing yoga music and recording with mainstream artists like Rick Allen (Def Leppard), Mark Karan (Ratdog), Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel), Badal Roy (tabla player for Miles Davis), and a recent collab with Proffesor Griff (Public Enemy) & Sole`

CHERYL CHAFFEE is Sarasota's own beloved kirtan singer and operator of Garden of the Heart Yoga. Cheryl has a beautiful voice and is gifted with having incredible natural yogic and musical talent. She has been a pillar of support for the Sarasota kirtan and yoga community. Wynne and Cheryl have been singing together for years, both at Garden of the Heart and various festivals including Bhakti Fest and the Lovelight Festival.
