If you own a harmonium and lead Kirtan in yoga classes or in your community and want to GO DEEPER, this ADVANCED Kirtan Leader Intensive is for you!

Come join us if you are an EXPERIENCED Kirtan Leader seeking to create powerful Kirtan experiences in yoga classes, on retreats and in your local community.
This Program is perfect for:
* Kirtan Leaders who share Kirtan in yoga classes
* Kirtan Leaders who aspire to share Kirtan with a band in their community
Kirtan Leaders working on SHARING Kirtan with others focus on building the skills and confidence required to begin to guide a band while leading participants on a Kirtan journey.
YOU WILL LEARN TO:
* Expand your understanding of chords and voicing options to make the most of the harmonium
* Strengthen your singing
* Grow your repertoire through more advanced cover chants by your favorite Kirtan artists
* Build comfort in speaking publicly about chants, telling stories, and sharing the power of Kirtan as a sacred practice
* Lead your band (drummer and response singers) with skill and ease
* Lead the group in a chant experience!
WHEN:
Friday, May 17 from 6-9pm (training session)
Saturday, May 18 from 9-5pm (training session) + Kirtan event at 7:30pm
* Sunday, May 19 from 11:30am - 5:30pm (training session) + 6-10pm - Kirtan Leader potluck and Jam Session!
HARMONIUM
You will need to beg, borrow, steal, purchase or rent a good harmonium for this program. No harmonium? No worries! We can help you purchase a great one (Bhava Mini, tuned to A-440) for $750 or line one up for your to rent in Boulder ($50) for the duration of the program.

HIGH TOUCH, HIGH LEARNING
Just as in Dancing with the Stars, or Fantasy Baseball Camp, this Kirtan Leader Intensive will offer you the opportunity to work with professional musicians who are accustomed to performing at large, successful Kirtan events.
Working with professionals will quickly increase your level of development, as there are no external obstacles to developing your Kirtan skills. You will experience the added value of having ongoing coaching guidance that will create a safe and supportive container for your learning experience so you stay focused on your learning edge.
Program participants will be supported by Mike Cohen and outstanding percussionist/educator Issa Malluf.
All participants will receive downloads of Mike's three albums, a 30 page handout on Kirtan and Bhakti Yoga and detailed chant sheets for the songs we work with.

TUITION INCLUDES:

* Free admission to Saturday evening Kirtan event.
* Participation in Sunday evening Kirtan Leader potluck and jam session. Participants from this program will have an opportunity to lead the group in a chant experience with support from a professional drummer and response singer.

ABOUT MIKE COHEN
Mike Cohen, MA is founder of Kirtan Leader Institute. Since 2010 he has trained and apprenticed hundreds of aspiring and emerging Kirtan Leaders across the globe from total beginners to several he has guided to create/release Kirtan albums, play at festivals and tour nationally.
A life-long musician with 16 years experience developing leaders, Mike created a proven methodology for training and apprenticing Kirtan Leaders based around five relevant domains for leading Kirtan: Musicianship, Leadership, Community Building, Entrepreneurship and Spirituality. Work within these 5 domains helps Kirtan Leaders build skill and confidence in serving others through the ancient/modern practice of sacred chant.
Mike has released three critically acclaimed albums, and in 2018-19 released six singles created with Grammy Award nominated producer Ben Leinbach (Jai Uttal, Krishna Das, Deva Premal). For over a decade, Mike has toured North America, offering accessible and potent Kirtan events in yoga studios, healing centers and at yoga/chant festivals. ABOUT DAWNIA DRESSER
Boulder, CO based Dawnia Dresser is an Anusara inspired yoga teacher and lifelong vocalist/musician. During her 19 years in Los Angeles, CA Dawnia co-created three albums of original folk-rock music and contributed extensively on albums and movies as a vocalist and voiceover artist. Dawnia is currently working with renowned Kirtan producer Ben Leinbach (Jai Uttal, Deva Premal) to create an EP of soul-infused mantra music. A graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in music and vocal performance, Dawnia serves as faculty in the Boulder, CO based Kirtan Leader Institute. Her warm heart, clear and caring teaching style and beautiful voice have led her to become a beloved member of the Kirtan community in CO and beyond.
ABOUT KEN MATARAZZO
Ken Matarazzo is a Boulder, CO based performer and teacher who has studied and performed on frame drums and afro cuban percussion since the early 90’s. Some of his teachers include master drummers, Randy Crafton, Layne Redmond and John Amira. Ken has collaborated with diverse artists, such as Jerry Joseph, Layne Redmond, Jim Matus and most recently Kirtan Leader Mike Cohen. Ken currently serves as faculty in the Boulder, CO based Kirtan Leader Institute.
ABOUT ISSA MALLUF
Palestinian-American percussionist, Issa Malluf, is a native to New Mexico. Originally self-taught, Issa has become a highly skilled and internationally recognized specialist in Middle Eastern, Arabic, and North African percussion. He has performed nationally and internationally at venues as noteworthy as the Kennedy Center and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Issa has recorded with artists including Grammy winning oud virtuoso Rahim Al-Haj, guitarist Peter Buck of R.E.M., and Eastern European, Balkan, and Turkish influenced 'A Hawk and a Hacksaw' among many more. He is frequently sought after due to the clarity, precision and complexity/simplicity of his drum work and rhythms. Issa is a natural teacher and has instructed and inspired all levels of drummers. He teaches workshops locally and has taught as a guest instructor at Yale and the Chicago School of Music. Though his primary genre is Arabic/Middle Eastern percussion, Issa is knowledgeable in an array of percussion styles from around the world and is ever expanding in to new territory and understandings through both study and travel.
