Melt(ed) at the MRC w/ Mal Maiz, Incus & DJ Brando

Join us as we return for another Melt at the Montague Retreat Center, the last one before the arrival of summer, with:


Mal Maiz, Incus & DJ Brando


Mal Maiz blends a pot of traditional cumbia, latin, reggae, and Afro-Carribean sounds, w/ a psychedelic mixing spoon.
9pm-10:15pm in the Great Hall


 


Incus unplugged cacao ceremony in the Hemlock Grove, co-facilitated by Kaitlyn Cronin


6:15pm-sunset in the hemlock grove


Incus shares their ceremonially inspired medicine songs, unplugged around the fire.  Bring a blanket or a chair and a willingness to sing and dance in the beautiful forest just above Spaulding Brook

DJ Brando offers heart opening soulful soundscapes that seamlessly weave music styles & cultures. A globally blended tapestry of beats, bumps, & baselines that penetrate to the marrow of your bones, spiraling around your undulating spine and unearthing your body.



Mal Maïz is a vermont base musical group that explore the psychedelic side of the Latin music, Weaving modern and tradicional rhythms from central and South America. The story telling behind each song is design in a poetical way, elaborating the complexity of the myths and legends that one time were part of the oral culture of Central America. You can feel the expression of their art through the fire and passion that ignited from from their hearts. Maiz “Brujo” Vargas started this group 10 years ago at the epicenter of the vermont music scene: Burlington, selecting a group some of the most profesional musicians that Vermont has bring to contemporaneous music Scene.  Our band delivers explosive and complex sounds that will make you dance celebrate and heal your soul. 



 


Incus offers heartfelt and dynamic music and songs inspired by years of fire circle cermony.  This performance will include Jason Cohen on accordoin and vocals, Charlotte Malin on violin and vocals Nico D'amico on bass and/or acoustic guitar, Jed Blume on percussion, and Glenn Smith on vocals and percussion. 


DJ Brando

Starting his career on vinyl records in 1995, DJ Brando has played Clubs and Ecstatic Dances all over the world, including spots in Montréal, Greece, Israel, Ibiza, and our very own Unifier Festival.  One of the original creators of Northampton’s the ecstatic dance POLLINATE, Brando has been featured as an emerging artist on fmainstream.com and a featured guest on the Valley Advocate’s video podcast series.

The beautiful and historic retreat center is located at 177 Ripley Rd. Montague MA. 


Please do not park anywhere on the grass, and if you are able, please park up top in the parking lot, saving the lower parking area for folks that might have difficulty walking down form the upper lot.  Thank you.
