Mindfulness Meditation
Presented by Robert Beatty
Robert Beatty is the founding teacher of the Portland Insight Meditation Community and a member of the first wave of lay Theravada Buddhist teachers who brought Buddhism from Asia to America in the 1970s. Robert integrates Western psychology with Buddhism's systematic training of the mind and heart. His teaching emphasizes kindness, relationship, humor, family, and work as vehicles for spiritual development. He is the author of Mindfulness for a Happy Life. Robert is a husband, father, grandfather, poet, musician, skier, lover of mountains, and is fully engaged with life.
Robert will guide participants in meditation, including sitting, walking, movement, and eating. You will go home understanding the practice of mindfulness and how to integrate it into every aspect of daily life. The retreat will occur in Noble Silence. There will be ample opportunities to ask questions and some opportunities for personal guidance with Robert or one of his assistants.

DANA
The Practice of Generosity
Teacher Support
This retreat is offered following the ancient Buddhist practice of Dana (see below) in which there is no charge for the teachings and students have the opportunity to support the teacher and teachings through the practice of generosity at the end of the retreat. The fees you pay to attend this retreat cover the basic retreat costs (food and lodging).
