Event Description

One Planet Peace Forum (OPPF) is presenting its 3rd annual free virtual gathering to contribute to a culture of peace. Hosted on Zoom by Unity Earth and anchoring Peace Week 2022, with the International Day of Peace (Sept. 21) in the middle, this event allows peacebuilders everywhere to have focused time with world-renowned peace ambassadors offering their visions for a peaceful future.

Funded by grants from United Religions Initiative (URI) and the Maine Humanities Council, One Planet Peace Forum was created as an annual event to offer a universal platform for people of all spiritual and secular expressions to co-create solutions to humanity’s most challenging issues.

With a holistic approach to peace making, following upon the peace movement, nuclear disarmament, civil rights, and social, racial, economic, and environmental justice, all of which are critical components of and stepping-stones toward world peace, OPPF invites people from all backgrounds to gather to reflect on how we can build bridges that will unite the human family.

The program takes place from 2-4:30 pm ET Saturday, September 24th, and consists of short keynote talks followed by a moderated dialogue, punctuated with contemplative interludes of reflective music.

Co-produced by Good of the Whole and the Connection Field, the program consists of short keynote talks followed by a moderated dialogue, with Dr. Julie Krull, host of All Things Connected, as emcee, and Tami Briggs, harpist, offering contemplative interludes of reflective music. Presenters include:

• Dr. Anita Sanchez, Author, Consultant, Trainer, Speaker, and Weaver of Indigenous Wisdom and Modern Science

• Dr. Shamini Jain, Author, Clinical Psychologist, and Founder and CEO of Consciousness and Healing Initiative (CHI)

• Rabbi Rami Shapiro, Award-Winning Author, Co-Director of One River Foundation, and Contributing Editor at Spirituality and Health magazine.

• Dr. Hoda Mahmoudi, Author, Researcher, Sociologist, and The Baha’i Chair for World Peace at the University of Maryland

• Yuka Saionji Matsuura, Deputy Chairperson of Goi Peace Foundation, and Byakko Shinko Kai, a spiritual organization dedicated to world peace.

Full bios of all the presenters and the full program are available on the website.

One Planet Peace Forum is committed to bringing people of all backgrounds together to experience unity in diversity and take action steps that cultivate harmony and peace across traditions. OPPF shares the perspective of the Parliament of the World’s Religions, as stated in their Declaration, A Global Ethic, “We consider humankind our family. We commit ourselves to a culture of non-violence, justice, and peace. To make a just and peaceful world, we must first change the consciousness of individuals."

All are invited to contribute toward making this online gathering a lasting contribution to global harmony. Please join us; as OPPF is a volunteer-run peace building nonprofit, sustained by donations and small grants, we hope you will consider making a donation of whatever you are able to on the website:
