Event Description

Yoga has the power to transform us, to revive our expansiveness, grace, grounding and capacity for awe embodied. Yelapa has this same power. A tranquil inlet south of Puerto Vallarta, removed from the hubbub of tourism, Yelapa allows you to wander in rhythm with nature, ocean, birds and jungle amidst the gentle village daily routines.

The combination of yoga, meditation, Ayurveda, pranayama, chanting, dharma talks, walking, hiking, ocean, river, tropical nature and being part of this Mexican village life affirms Yoga’s ultimate theme of Oneness.

Yelapa, reached only by boat, takes people back in time enhancing the feeling of “getting away from it all” and invites participants to remember the simple life. The Sky Temple offers a sacred space deeply connected to nature for yogi’s to enjoy. Find a sense of grounding in this other cultural world steeped in nature.

Enjoy beautiful views of both the ocean and the jungle from the venue each day. The mountain side setting holds expansive views with the wonderful sounds of the constant lap of the ocean, and the sights and songs of tropical birds enjoying the trees surrounding the studio.

Sarahjoy Marsh, MA, E-RYT 500, certified yoga teacher, yoga therapist, and author, is a vibrant, compassionate catalyst for transformation. Clear-hearted and sensitive toward our human condition, Sarahjoy ignites a person’s confidence in themselves as capable of traversing the challenges and joys of awakening from suffering. Through her decades of work with a wide variety of people, she has created an accessible library of tools that develop the life skills people need to re-create health (both physical and mental); to internalize their sense of worth, belonging, and capacity; and to thrive emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually.

While fundamentally informed by the teachings of yoga, Sarahjoy also masterfully integrates her training in Eastern and Western perspectives, Ayurveda, art therapy and mental health, interpersonal counseling, neurobiology, reciprocal muscle inhibition, and kinesiology. She has an unwavering belief in people’s innate goodness and their capacity to re-awaken to their potential.

Committed to supporting marginalized populations and using yoga for social justice, she founded two non-profits. Living Yoga and DAYA Foundation. DAYA brings yoga and mindfulness tools to prisons; to those with addiction, anxiety or depression; to those with medical issues such as cancer, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease; and to others who would not be able to attend yoga classes because of social, financial or physical constraints.

A sought after teacher of teachers, she leads multiple retreats, immersions, and trainings in the Pacific Northwest and internationally, and is a regular instructor at Kripalu Yoga Center and Breitenbush Hot Springs. She teaches 200-, 500-, and 800-hour yoga teacher and yoga therapy trainings in Portland, Oregon; as well as a 200-hour teacher training program in prisons for incarcerated adults to become yoga teachers on the inside.
