Yoga, Music and Ocean Adventures Maui Retreat 2025 with Jaya Lakshmi and Luna Rain

Aloha! The islands of Hawaii are renowned for their beauty, heart opening and connection to spirit. We'd like to offer you a sanctuary, a healing space, a time to reconnect to yourself - to nurture celebration and divine inspiration. This retreat is designed to:

•.Create space for personal healing

• Bring deeper connection to yourself, the earth and each other

• Inspire your devotion and divine love

• Help you open your voice, sing freely and confidently

• Cultivate inner radiance, health and joy

• Celebrate with community and loved ones

Through the sacred container of our group, we will practice yoga and meditation together, eat meals, swim and sing together, creating a sense of ‘Ohana’ or family, that many of us long for these days. Helping us remember how it feels to just be and enjoy the natural beauty of life, to come back into harmony with ourselves.

I (Jaya Lakshmi) feel deeply connected to Maui as I lived on the island for 6 years in the 90's and have been spending every winter on the islands since I moved back to the mainland in 2001. I love to share with you my inspiration and love of Maui, a place of timeless magic and special beauty.

Kirtan, Chant and Sacred Music

This retreat will deepen your love and practice of singing, chanting mantra, and bhakti (devotion) in a majestic and elevating environment. We'll gather every evening to sing and share sacred music, sometimes joined by talented local musician friends.  We'll be offering some afternoon workshops where we explore singing techniques, mantra pronunciation, deity mythology (Eastern/Vedic) and relevance in a modern context.  We will explore singing and chanting as a pathway to healing, upliftment and connection.

What kind of yoga will we practice?

Jaya Lakshmi is certified in Sattva Himalayan Kundalini Yoga with an extensive background in Kundalini Yoga, Anusara and hatha-based yoga.  Sattva Yoga is a comprehensive yoga system developed by Anand Mehrotra (Rishikesh, India) that integrates meditation, kriya, asana, movement, pranayama and timeless wisdom. It weaves the science of Hatha and Kriya Yoga from ancient lineages, incorporating purification sequencing, so each journey has a subtle cellular shift, dynamic mind-body experience, as well as a meditative experience.

This style of yoga is similar to Kundalini Yoga as taught by KRI but with more freedom and an emphasis on cultivating intuitive flow.  It is very powerful for stabilizing emotions, reducing anxiety, decreasing fear and for cultivating positive states of joy, bliss, love, peace, stillness and a feeling of radical aliveness.

For more info on Sattva Yoga, visit www.SattvaYogaAcademy.com

Luna Rain - Drawn to Anusara yoga for its emphasis on alignment, embracing grace within each pose, and integrating that openness into daily life, Luna Rain was fortunate to begin yoga study under wonderful teachers where she lives in Eugene, Oregon. After completing a 200-hour yoga teacher training with Sianna Sherman in 2011, Luna continued her journey as both a dedicated practitioner and instructor. In 2016, she formally undertook Neelakantha Meditation, a practice rooted in SvaTantra – the traditional Kashmir teachings of the ultimate freedom of consciousness. With a serene yet down-to-earth presence, Luna guides students on an explorative journey through yoga's transcendent depths, offering elements of pranayama, sadhana practices, mythology, and music. Her teachings seamlessly blend a compassionate, judgment-free approach with articulate cues that illuminate new spaces of embodied awareness. Students are empowered to move with mindful intentionality, unveiling layers of freedom within both mind and movement. Luna's classes offer an approachable, loving space where individuals can peel away constraints, reconnect with their authentic selves, and experience the practice's profound capacities for awakening.

Sea Life, Beaches, Swimming and Snorkeling

We will be swimming and snorkeling daily together at local bays and beaches. You don't have to be an expert ocean swimmer but some experience is always good - we like to go out in the water in groups so everyone feels relaxed and safe as possible.  You can always sit out and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and sunshine. Be prepared to have some magical encounters with some very special ocean creatures!

If you want to snorkle (which is highly recommended) it's helpful if you can bring your own set of gear - though if you need to rent snorkel gear in Kihei that can be arranged. Ideally, have a well-fitted mask, snorkel and fins ready so you can explore and enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian waters!

About your hosts:

Jaya Lakshmi has led spiritual yoga-based adventure retreats since 2011. (This will be the 8th retreat she has hosted in Hawaii.) She is well known for her music career of 30 years, which has produced over 21 albums in the genres of mantra music, singer-songwriter and electronica. In addition to offering sacred music and ceremony at retreats, she is also a certified Sattva Yoga Teacher (Rishikesh, India) and has an extensive background of yoga training and experience.

Luna Rain is an Anusara-inspired certified yoga instructor and nutritionist. She leads rejuvenating workshops on whole foods, mindfulness, and heart-awakening practices. Luna discovered Kirtan and chant music in 2003, combining her loves of singing and yoga. Since then, she's performed live as a devoted vocalist and on albums for renowned artists. A graduate of Bastyr University, Luna's passion lies in sharing wisdom to inspire loving-awareness and vibrant health.

Lakshmi & Luna  Luna met Jaya Lakshmi in 2005 when she inquired about receiving harmonium lessons, which marked the beginning of a life-long friendship. Luna had just formed 'Luna and Larry's Coconut Bliss'  and Jaya Lakshmi proceeded to work for the company for 7 years, during which time Luna sang with her at many of her concerts and recorded vocals on some of her albums. They stayed close throughout the years, sharing a vision of co-leading yoga, music and lifestyle retreats together one day. That day has come!
